European Day of Languages 2025 at Katkin park

 Language classes, 26 sen 2025 - 26 sen 2025, Košice, Slovakia

This year at Katkin park we decided to dedicate 2 lessons and 4 activities to the European Day of Languages: 1. Internationalisms – Pantomime – the class is divided into groups, one student from the first group draws a word and tries to act it out using pantomime so that the others in their group can guess it. After the word is guessed, the next group takes their turn; 2. Greek – Transliteration into Latin alphabet – students receive tables with the Greek and Latin alphabets and are tasked with transcribing simple sentences from the Greek alphabet into Latin script. After transcription, the teacher shows the Slovak meaning of the sentences using a presentation; Cyrillic – students receive tables with the Cyrillic alphabet and are tasked with writing their first name and surname; 3. Slovak Dialects – students will look at a map of dialect regions and listen to samples of dialects. They will try to interpret a dialectal text into standard Slovak, and finally take a quiz on dialects; 4. Tongue Twisters – English, Slovak, German, Spanish.
