Let's celebrate the European Day of Languages !

 Language Day, 22 Sep 2025 - 26 Sep 2025, Longwy, France

To celebrate the European Day of Languages, students at Alfred Mézières High School in Longwy got involved in several creative and unifying projects. In the school library, students in the European English class designed a large game called “Where am I?” Participants had to match countries, iconic monuments, and national mottos, written in their original language and translated into French. This activity highlighted the historical, cultural, and linguistic richness of our continent, while developing curiosity and team spirit. At the same time, posters and an anthem on the theme “Languages open our hearts and minds!” were created, illustrating the talent and creativity of the students. The best works were selected to be shared more widely on the official website of the European Day of Languages. Finally, some classes took part in a workshop during which they mimed English proverbs. The game consisted in guessing (from a given list) the proverb represented. A great way to prove that learning and understanding a language can also be done through gestures! Throughout these activities, enthusiasm, cooperation, and interculturalism were the order of the day. This day confirmed that Alfred Mézières High School is brimming with dynamism and creativity, proudly asserting its place in the celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe. Long live the European Day of Languages!
