“Languages – keys to friendship and knowledge”

 Language Day, 26 Sep 2025 - 30 Sep 2025, Câmpeni, Romania

Objective: To raise awareness of linguistic diversity, promote intercultural understanding, and show how languages connect people. Activity Steps: Warm-up (5 min): “Hello Around the World” Teacher shows how to say Hello in 5–7 different languages. Students repeat and guess which country each word comes from. Main Activity (25 min): “Language Keys” Each student receives a paper cut-out shaped like a key. On the key, they write one word/phrase in a foreign language they know or are learning (e.g., friendship, thank you, peace, smile). They also write its meaning in their native language. Students then decorate the key and place it on a large poster titled: “Languages Open Hearts and Minds.” Together, the poster becomes a Key Wall representing how languages unlock friendship and knowledge. Interactive Game (10 min): “Language Matching” Teacher prepares cards: half with words (e.g., “Peace,” “Love,” “Friendship”) in English, and half with the same words in other European languages (e.g., Paz – Spanish, Paix – French, Freundschaft – German). Students must find their matching partner. Reflection & Closing (5 min): Students share what new word or greeting they learned. Teacher highlights the importance of languages as bridges between cultures.
