Linguistic-Cultural Festival – “Languages in Celebration: Scents, Sounds, and Stories”

Language festival, 26 sept. 2025 - 10 okt. 2025, Loureiro, Oliveira de Azeméis, Portugāle

This festival is centered on celebrating and valuing linguistic and cultural diversity, with activities spread across two weeks. The initiative culminates with the reception of a European delegation within the Erasmus+ project, reinforcing the international and collaborative nature of the event. The integration of non-language subjects in an interdisciplinary effort allows languages to be explored from multiple perspectives in a dynamic and enriching approach. The expected outcome is a learning experience that will leave a lasting mark on participants’ intercultural awareness. Summary of Activities: • Classroom celebration with readings of literary and poetic texts in different languages (Portuguese, French, English, Spanish, etc.), promoting linguistic diversity and active listening. • Musical performance “Musical Bridges: A Meeting of Languages and Traditions”, featuring a medley created by students that integrates verses and refrains in several languages, reflecting the richness of cultural heritage. • Soap workshop “Rice Soap Tiles”: artisanal creation of rice soaps scented with orange blossom, accompanied by multilingual labels with linguistic and historical curiosities from Portugal and/or the local region. • Reception of the French delegation within the Erasmus+ project, including language reinforcement through classroom observation in different subjects and intercultural exchange; cultural visits (Aveiro, Coimbra, and Porto) focusing on the language of public spaces (signage, heritage, gastronomy); “Languages in the Mirror: What Unites Us, What Sets Us Apart” session for exchange between Portuguese and French students about the languages they master; pedipaper activity “Trail of the Senses: Where the River Tells Stories” with a walking route to the Ul Watermill Theme Park, home to the Museum Center of the Mill and Bread, including challenges in three languages (Portuguese, French, English), promoting contact with nature, the preservation of heritage and local traditions, and diverse linguistic expression.
